Care Guide
Care Guide
Preserve the beauty and longevity of your purchase with the guidance below. Always follow the manufacturer’s care label or booklet first.
1. Bags
Leather
- Dust weekly with a microfiber cloth; air dry naturally if damp—never use direct heat.
- Condition sparingly with a neutral leather cream; test first on a discreet area.
- Avoid alcohol, baby wipes, bleach and abrasive cleaners; keep away from sanitizer and perfume.
- Limit color transfer by avoiding prolonged contact with dark denim and unsealed textiles.
Suede & Nubuck
- Protect before use with a dedicated suede protector.
- Brush gently in one direction with a suede brush; lift dry marks with a crepe rubber block.
- Keep away from rain. If wet, blot, stuff lightly with tissue and allow to dry naturally.
Fabric, Canvas & Nylon
- Spot-clean with mild soap and lukewarm water; wipe again with clean water to remove residue.
- Avoid soaking, bleach and machine washing unless explicitly permitted by the brand.
Hardware & Trims
- Polish lightly with a dry soft cloth only; avoid abrasive contact to prevent scratches.
2. Clothing
Knitwear (Wool, Cashmere, Blends)
- Hand wash cold with gentle detergent or use a delicate cycle in a mesh bag if permitted.
- Reshape and lay flat to dry; never hang wet knits or tumble dry.
- Use a cashmere comb or fabric shaver to remove natural pilling.
Silk & Delicates
- Prefer professional dry clean or hand wash cold with silk-safe detergent if label allows.
- Do not wring; roll in a towel to remove water. Air dry away from sun. Steam on low from reverse.
Cotton, Poplin, Jersey & Denim
- Wash inside out with like colors to reduce fading and friction.
- Press on medium/low heat; avoid high heat on prints or transfers.
Outerwear
- Follow label carefully (dry clean tailored wool; specialist care for down/technical fabrics).
- Brush wool coats and spot clean promptly; store on broad, shaped hangers.
3. Accessories (Belts, Wallets, Scarves)
Belts & Small Leather Goods
- Keep away from moisture and prolonged sunlight; wipe leather with a soft cloth, condition sparingly.
- Store belts flat or gently coiled; avoid tight bends near the buckle.
Scarves (Silk, Wool, Cashmere)
- Follow fiber-specific guidance above. Avoid perfume and lotions which can mark delicate fibers.
- Fold loosely or roll; store in a breathable pouch.
4. Homeware (Plates, Ceramics & Glass)
Porcelain, Bone China & Fine Ceramics
- Hand wash with mild detergent and a soft sponge; avoid abrasive pads.
- Avoid thermal shock (e.g., fridge to hot oven). Do not microwave metallic rims.
Stoneware & Earthenware
- Durable yet still avoid sudden temperature changes; check brand notes for dishwasher/oven use.
Glass & Crystal
- Hand wash warm with mild detergent; dry with lint-free cloths.
- Support the bowl while polishing stems to avoid torsion stress.
5. Storage & Protection
- Use dust bags and breathable boxes; avoid sealed plastic for long-term storage.
- Maintain shape with acid-free tissue; do not overfill.
- Keep silica gel packs where appropriate to manage humidity; air items periodically.
6. FAQs
What if my bag gets wet?
Blot immediately with a soft cloth, stuff lightly with tissue, and allow to air dry away from heat. For suede, let dry fully and lift with a suede brush or crepe block.
How do I limit color transfer?
Avoid prolonged rubbing against dark denim or unsealed textiles; rotate carry positions and consider protective sprays where suitable.
Can I machine wash my garment?
Only if the care label explicitly allows it. When unsure, choose hand wash for appropriate fibers or professional cleaning.
Are plates and glassware dishwasher safe?
Check the brand’s note. When in doubt, hand wash with mild detergent and avoid extreme temperature changes.
