Fashion bites

Text: HELEN PAPAIOANNOU

Sharpening up the luxury fashion house, breathing new life into its signature intrecciato braided leather designs and re-visiting the hostoric brand’s values, young creative director Daniel Lee is a force to be reconed with. His latest endeavor reflects the holistic viewpoint he has on the italian knack of the House, and the 360o world he associates it with.Bottega Veneta’s first hospitality café in Osaka, Japan, serving Italian aperitivo and wine in 55 square meters of elegance, opened up in late 2019, directly in touch with the brand’s boutique in the Hankyu Men’s department store.

Revolving around the concept of lightness, loosely looking at the boundaries between interior exterior spaces, as well as incorporating bold colors, Lee’s design for the café evokes innate intrigue through emphasizing on the tension of basic café elements. The Terrazzo Palladiano flooring of the space, crafted from a variety of Venetian marble and bright pink neon signage, creates the feel of a classic Italian eatery, while the idea of a balcony looming over the city with a glass garden wall exposing natural greenery makes the transition of interior to exterior in just one simple move.

Inspired by the Italian DNA of the fashion house, the Bottega café’s specially curated menu includes coffee, tea, juices, and an exclusive wine selection from the Veneto region, while an array of desserts and salty aperitivo bites make up an irresistible accompaniment.
