The screening/ These are the best fashion films of the year

It is the world’s first annual film festival dedicated to fashion, style and beauty and it is still groundbreaking as ever. The brainchild of legendary fashion journalist, Paris-based Diane Pernet A Shaded View on Fashion Film took place at Centre Pompidou in Paris and continued for the 7th time in a row to shake up the old rules of uber stylish imagery. Since its launch IN 2008, ASVOFF has become a leading event on the international fashion agenda. The festival has gained critical acclaim for encouraging both emerging and established artists to reconsider the way that fashion is presented and for challenging the conventional parameters of film. Paris is the birthplace of this visual platform which tours the globe with subsequent screenings at prestigious institutions and events like the Guggenheim, the Barbican, Art Basel Miami and the Cannes Film Festival in a host of creative capitals such as New York, London, Tokyo, Milan, Moscow, Mexico City.

A reason to explore the most amazing ‘fashion reel du jour’ as it evolves and flourishes, ASVOFF revolutionizes the fashion industry and triggers several important commercial, business and digital media opportunities across the fashion and movie industries. ASVOFF is not only a competition of short fashion, style and beauty films but also a travelling international event showcasing feature films, documentaries, conferences, performances and installations – making it a must-see on both the fashion calendar and the film circuit. Genre-bending and groundbreaking, it has already brought together such illustrious names as Chris Cunningham, Tilda Swinton, Nick Knight, Nobuyoshi Araki, Steven Klein, Jim Jarmush and numerous, ultra-talented others. The event, which took place over three days from 21 – 23 November, covered once again all aspects of the film spectrum but this is a Festival so we proudly present you the awarded films of the year.
