The classic/ These are the most exquisite shirts in the world

A must stop for dapper men, Charvet is the Rolls-Royce of bespoke dress shirts. The superlative French shirt-maker which remains true to it’s philosophy where quality and service met each other in 1838, is one of the only brands that can claim to have changed the face of fashion. You see, before Charvet men’s shirts were just garments but the company which was founded by Joseph-Christophe Charvet, son of Napoleon’s wardrobe master introduced the seams, the collars and every other characteristic of a shirt as it was always meant to be.

Charvet was the first specialist shirt-maker store in the world, even the term chemisier was invented to describe this new product line. Over the decades, Charvet’s exquisite quality of its shirts, cravats, waistcoats and pocket squares became a French fashion institution with customers like Baudelaire, George Sand and Manet, Presidents John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, Oscar Wilde, the Kings and Queens of Europe, Debussy, Proust, Frank Lloyd Wright, General de Gaulle and President Jacque Chirac of France.

The company entered the 20th century in 1965, when the Charvet family sold the business Denis Colban. Since then the company expanded in dress shirts for women, more colors and even more products, still a family business nevertheless. So next time you visit Paris, do yourself a favor and experience the true Charvet bespoke experience. You will become a buttoned up part of fashion history in an instant.
