The award/ Franca Sozzani is shaping the future of fashion

It seemed to be date night in New York on Wednesday night, as Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin stepped out dressed in their best for an evening of honor. Attending The New York Ball: European School of Economics 20th Anniversary Benefit, held in the Trump Tower’s gold-lined halls the couple mingled with a pretty crowd that included Coco Rocha, Natasha Poly, Jacquelyn Jablonski and Daria Strokous but if there was One Lady Of Honor it was the editrix of Vogue Italia.

“Making dreams come true while enjoying caviar and branzino—what could be better than that?” mused Kris Jenner, host of the Ball honoring Franca Sozzani amongst others. The gala raised funds for the European School of Economics Foundation’s scholarship and grants program but for others, the fete was about supporting longtime and powerful friendships.

“For me, I’m here for Franca. She’s an amazing, amazing woman. When you’re starting out as a designer, to have people like her really behind you and pushing you and believing in you means everything.” said Pucci’s Peter Dundas of the woman who captured the gala’s mission.

Accepting her Lifetime Achievement Award from Valentino Garavani, she said, “I consider the fashion world [to have] given me a lot. But I’ve given a lot to this world. I say that I’m just starting out. I’m starting out using Vogue as a platform for something else, for the next step.”
