Cameron Russell though is a model turn activist by default. Already a veteran of the fashion industry (13 years and counting), with numerous magazine covers promoting her beauty genetics, Russell is on a mission. A Glamazon of a kind, Russell will promote causes through her catwalk. “I am on this stage because I am a pretty, white woman, and in my industry we call that a sexy girl,” she said at a TED conference. “For the past few centuries we have defined beauty not just as health and youth and symmetry that we’re biologically programmed to admire, but also as tall, slender figures, and femininity and white skin.
