The New Vintage To Hold

The New Vintage To Hold

“Vintage has found its way into our closets and is here to stay” announced Vogue Italy just a couple of months ago as vintage pieces found in flea markets or in our family closets are a constant inspiration for fashion designers. Of course Vogue was happy to inform us that new vintage is now all the rage.

12 greenery travel destinations which Pantone would approve

The global authority of colour, Pantone, has revealed its predicted shade for 2017 and it’s a colour of hope. Greenery, a vibrant hue that is certainly a few steps up from last year’s winners, Rose Quartz and Serenity is a shade go good vibes. Among the colours adopted by the anti-war and civil rights movements of the 60s and 70s, greenery “is about hope and the environment and peace”. Jil Sander’s pure confidence

Jil Sander is a house that prides itself on being plain. Yet, for Rodolfo Paglialunga “Jil Sander cannot be reduced to minimalism. It deeply relates to the reality in which we live.” This collection had an edge to it with following the same general rules: monochrome, minimal, pure, precise. “It felt like a chic retort to the vintage-tinged, overtly embellished, almost ditzy direction that so much of Milan has taken this season. It felt confident”. Read more

Prairie chic is the cutest trend of the season

Do you recall the Little House on the Prairie? If so, Laura Ingalls Wilder’s wardrobe is having a moment. If not, well, you will. Prairie chic is a style that straddles both femininity and hardworking practicality. “Ditzy floral prints and lace-up tomboyish boots; high necklines with a delicate ruffle; pretty calico yoke blouses and long hemlines; gingham and plaid prints and homespun patchwork patterns in sun-faded shades. Prairie style has romantic, feminine look appeal teamed with a hardy, free-spirited air – they look better with a smudge of mud or a grass stain” comments Ella Alexander for a trend that is quite lovely. For summer 2016 prairie chic is reinventing itself with a sensual feel to it. Designers, from Erdem and Alexander McQueen to Valentino brought a modern edge to this part nostalgic, part angel look. So be a modern prairie girl with this look that can easily veer into either fancy dress or sickly sweet territories with the appropriate styling. “Alexa Chung wears her prairie dress with PVC boots, which makes for an interesting juxtaposition, while Kate Bosworth demonstrated how the trend can be worn for night when created in delicate tulle” adds Alexander. “It’s high time boho was made to step aside” she adds and we approve. Green wool fedora hat by Maison Michel, ‘Ali’ floral print long dress with V-neck at the back by Erdem. – Available at Luisa World Kolonaki, Luisa World Kifissia.

Maison Michel’s elegant summer must have

Thais Klapisch from Gucci Gang wears it, so does Kate Moss. “I think it is better to do one thing and to do it well, instead of going into all these different ideas and products when you have no idea what you are even doing,” said Laetitia Crahay, the Paris house’s creative director. “Most of the time that is done for commercial reasons, but I have no intention of making branded Maison Michel key chains!” Read more

Céline under the Acropolis

Anafiotika, the 19th century neighborhood on the northern slopes of the Acropolis hill, beside the entrance to the Agora are the perfect location for portraying Phoebe Philo’s ultra feminine collection. Nestled above Plaka, Anafiotika seems far removed with bougainvilleas splashing whitewashed walls and cats stalk sunny paths that are the ideal catwalk for Céline’s spring grandeur that jazzed up the label’s traditionally pared-down clothing with hits of lace and embellishment that give the fashion house’s simplicity an ultra feminine boost.
