If only all those who have ruled Courchevel over the centuries had known what a playground for the rich and famous the French resort town would become, they wouldn’t have given it up that easily. Having been held by France, the dukes of this Alpine region of Savoy and the Holy Roman Empire, Courchevel was, up until 1860, a spoil of European wars.
