With designers bringing the plaid again into the limelight of menswear you should definitively own one or two shirts to show how the game of plaid is done.
Tartan or (plaid) is a pattern consisting of criss-crossed horizontal and vertical bands in multiple colours. Tartans originated in woven wool, but now they are made in many other materials. Tartan is particularly associated with Scotland. Scottish kilts almost always have tartan patterns.
Tartan is often called plaid in North America, but in Scotland, a plaid is a tartan cloth slung over the shoulder as a kilt accessory, or a plain ordinary blanket such as one would have on a bed.

Olivier Lapidus has replaced Bouchra Jarrar as artistic director at Lanvin, amid plans to revamp the brand as “a French Michael Kors,” reports BoF.
Following the (not that unexpected) departure of Bouchra Jarrar after two collections, Olivier Lapidus, the son of Ted Lapidus who pioneered “unisex clothes and designed clothes worn by the Beatles and Françoise Hardy”, has previously held roles at Balmain Homme as well as running Maison Lapidus alongside his father. The “e-couture” expert who has recently designed the interiors of the four-star Hotel Félicien in Paris, will show his first collection for the house for spring/summer 2018 at Paris Fashion Week.
