The Chicago native Virgil Abloh studied as a civil engineer at the University of Wisconsin, followed by a masters in architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology. A long-term creative advisor to rapper Kanye West, Abloh launched his label, Off-White, in September 2013.

Riccardo Tisci to leave Givenchy after 12 years

For Suzy Menkes the announcement came as a shock. “LVMH has revealed that Riccardo Tisci has left the House of Givenchy after 12 years at the helm. Whereas other designers have been known to be restless, Tisci, trained at London’s Central Saint Martins, had given no sign that he was about to depart” comments the renowned fashion editor on this brand new departure the industry.

During his time at the label, Tisci brought a gothic, dark and urban vibe to the fashion house making it a red-carpet favourite for numerous stars, many of them from the music business. From Rihanna to Kanye West everyone adored Tisci’s edgy designs. As for the business part, Tisci reign was more than lucrative for Givenchy as the house “expanded sixfold during the time he was the designer, with employees rising from 290 in 2005 to more than 930 now” reports The Guardian.

Kimye and an army of models headline Balmain’s new campaign

Balmain continues its collaboration with fashion photographer Steven Klein, following its spring-summer 2016 campaign. For the latest collaboration Kanye West is the star of Balmain’s new campaign alongside his wife Kim Kardashian and Olivier Rousteing’s favourite models du jour. The campaign, which is shot by legendary fashion photographer Steven Klein, is about a “music fashion fusion,” according to the creative director behind the images Pascal Dangin. West wears Balmain with great frequency and in turn the designer has called him a “God.” Read more
