Lucie and Luke Meier are Jil Sander’s new power couple

Ch-ch-ch-changes! Jil Sander is entering a very contemporary era after Rodolfo Paglialunga’s departure earlier this Spring.

“After earning their stripes with five years at Louis Vuitton during the Marc Jacobs era, Lucie Meier joined Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga and then was chosen by Raf Simons to take control of the women’s ready-to-wear and haute couture collections at Dior. Following the departure of Raf Simons to Calvin Klein, she took the reins as co-creative director at Dior for 5 collections before the arrival of Maria Grazia Chiuri” writes Vogue Paris.

“Meanwhile, Luke Meier was the head designer for street wear brand, Supreme for 8 years and then co-founded the OAMC ready-to-wear line of men’s wardrobe essentials. Now united in their work life as they are in private, the duo will present their first collection at Spring/Summer 2018 Fashion Week”.

“We feel proud and honoured to join this beautiful brand. To be able to work on this side by side makes this opportunity even more special to us. We hope to show the affection we have for this brand through our work, as Jil Sander has had such a profound influence on our paths” Lucie and Luke Meier explained.

“Lucie and Luke possess an intimate connection and a deep understanding of the brand. They hold a vision which is modern, cohesive, and in touch with what is relevant now and they beautifully combine it with a subtle sensibility for fabrics, garment construction, and detail definition. I expect the creation of very clever collections and a world to be inspired by” said Jil Sander’s CEO, Alessandra Bettari.

Jil Sander has officially announced the appointment of Lucie and Luker Meier as creative directors of collections. The duo will present their first collection for the label at Spring/Summer 2018 Fashion Week.
