Lanvin’s Menswear arty seductiveness is yours to take

It was an anniversary to celebrate. Lanvin’s Menswear for F/W 2016 collection marked the 10th year Lucas Ossendrijver has been designing for Lanvin and amid rumours of departures Ossendrijver delivered one of his strongest shows ever.

In this collection Ossendrijver shows where his true talent lies. His simple love for clothing with “the usual construction techniques, interestingly odd use of materials and multiple stitches gave each piece a semi-unfinished look” reports CraveOnline. “From the soft shouldered coats that seemed to envelope the models completely to wide leg pants and loose-fitted suiting, this collection had a few familiar silhouettes”.

“Zooming in on details” was Ossendrijver motto for this collection. “Things you touch with your hands” he said. A show full of “affectionate scruffiness” it reminded us that Lucas Ossendrijver knows what loving fashion is all about. “It’s clothes. You should wear them. They should live” he added.

“Their careworn and aged feel made them feel old, in one way; their references to styles Ossendrijver used to establish both Lanvin’s name and stake in the menswear sphere, in another” commented Vogue’s Alexander Fury. “The look was still seductive, for a certain type of arty man who longs for the bombast to be pulled out of his wardrobe, even if the stylistic bite was dulled”.

Ossendrijver’s offering felt true to himself, to why he designs clothes, and to why he still loves it.
