Karlie Kloss is a disco dancer and you should be too

Nile Rodgers’ legendary disco-soul band CHIC has reunited, yet “I’ll Be There,” the group’s first single and video in 20 years, proves they never left the scene. “No I don’t wanna live in the past, but it’s a nice place to visit/and if you come along, I’ll be there” they sing and Karlie Kloss will dance to it.

Living out all her glamorous disco fantasies, the leggy and gorgeous KK starts her night watching the ever-cult Soul Train with an off-the shoulder cropped sweatshirt and then she enters the nightlife into a white Atelier Versace jumpsuit in a video directed by fashion-favorite photographers Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

The disco scene was actually shot at a V magazine party this February but the real story of the song’s background is detailed on Nile Rodgers‘ website. He said it was taken from an early session for a Sister Sledge song, and that it was named after he discovered the body of Chic co-founder Bernard Edwards, who died in 1996 following a Chic concert in Japan.

“I said, ‘Now, I can be there for you in death, the way you were there for me in life,'” he writes. “Back in the day ‘Nard always looked out for me. I was the reckless one. We had lots of fun and good times. So on the song’s surface it’s really happy. It’s about the origin of CHIC, and how dance music changed our lives forever.”

The video was released yesterday because it was the vernal equinox—day and night had the same length—and because the solar eclipse in parts of the Northern Hemisphere was a rare moment. Karlie Kloss is the ultimate carefree white dancing goddess du jour so dance your life away in style just like she does.
