Gucci’s breathtaking gown for Björk took 870 hours to make
Alessandro Michele designed a special custom gown for Björk to wear in the latest of her groundbreaking music videos, “The Gate”.
According to Gucci, the garment took 870 hours to make: 550 for the dress and another 320 for the embroidery. That’s over 36 days of work.

Constructed from shimmering iridescent fabrics, the dress’s materials include 5 meters of pleated iridescent PVC plastic material, 3 meters of PVC iridescent strips and 20 meters of pleated lurex organza.
For comparison, it took 50 people working for one week (around 160 hours) to embroider the intricate dress Beyoncé wore for the 2017 Grammys. Check out Björk’s Gucci dress and the video for “The Gate” below.
“The Gate” is the first single from Björk’s forthcoming album Utopia, which is due out in November.
