Fashion and architecture collide in Bottega Veneta's latest collaborative campaign

Bottega Veneta’s recurring “Art of Collaboration” series with campaigns lensed by famous art photographers is back.

Since 2001, when Maier joined the house, everyone from Nan Goldin and Stephen Shore to Tina Barney and Robert Longo has been involved. Now Tomas Maier lets his vision lensed  by famed artist and photographer Todd Hido in this mixture of architecture and style.

In addition to the campaign shots the Italian house has released a new film called “Mixed Messages,” the first in a new video series to accompany the Art of Collaboration project.

“Featuring the same models who appear in the ad campaign, the video follows them through a provocative storyline, albeit one with no definitive ending—and that is precisely the point” Maier told Fashion Unfiltered.

“Here, you have three women, who vary in age, and one man, but who are they in relation to one another? This film invites you to determine your own ending.”

Maier, a huge architecture fan himself chose Lee House 2 for the Bottega Veneta FW17 campaign location. Built in 1956 by famed architect John Black Lee who is often referred to as the sixth of the famous “Harvard five” architects Lee House 2 was restored in the nineties by famed architect Toshiko Mori followed by a final restoration in 2010 by Kengo Kuma. Maier said to Keep it Chic

“I love architecture, which is why we always shoot our campaigns in world-renowned buildings. Since Spring/Summer 2017 was shot in a Paul Rudolph house in an urban setting, we had to find a structure that would match that level, and I knew Lee House 2 would deliver. The fact that it snowed gave the models, the clothing and the architecture an additional dimension” commented Maier to Keep it Chic.

The iconic glass house in New Caanan, Connecticut was the location for Tomas Maier’s Fall 2017 campaign for Bottega Veneta, which stars Mariacarla Boscono, Simon Nessman, Grace Chen, and Eva Herzigova.
