April Fools Day: Fashion’s best hoaxes ever

“April Fools’ Day (sometimes called All Fools’ Day) is celebrated every year on April 1 by playing practical jokes and spreading hoaxes. The jokes and their victims are called April fools” informs Wikipedia on this day’s most common truths which are insane lies that we love to share.

Of course fashionistas are not shouting “April Fool” every time they are inspired with style-infused humor, yet some pranks are worth mentioning as they are evident to fashion’s best hoaxes fashion ever.

North West was never Vogue Kids cover, although some claim she should (hint, it’s never too late). Fashion show regular North West, 21 months old day back in the day, graced the first-ever cover of Vogue Kids. “What better way to introduce the glossy’s new child-focused supplement than by featuring the #worldsmosttalkedaboutbaby in custom Alexander Wang?  West was photographed by Craig Barritt on location in Paris under her parents’ watchful eye during the shows in March, but neither Kim Kardashian nor Kanye West appear in any of the images” reports Fashionista.

“Dressed in her signature style of black leather, fur, ripped denim and the occasional hint of olive green, West looks more content than we’ve ever seen her before. When asked about her first cover in the interview with Hamish Bowles, West simply says, “Guagghhhh.” … A tough critic, however, regularly throwing fits as models come down the runway and snarling at the paparazzi that already follow her every move. Vogue U.S. has not published a supplemental subscription magazine since Men’s Vogue shuttered in 2008, but it is undeniable that interest in celebrity children and designer childrenswear is at an all time high. The first issue clocks in at 720 pages — only 50 of which feature West’s editorial — so it’s obvious advertisers recognize the value of the younger consumer”.

Also Lagerfeld’s favorite pussy named Choupette would have been Lucky magazine’s best feline cover ever (Eva Chen brought the fake Choupette cover out on April Fools’ Eve for Chanel’s celeb-filled pre-Metiers d’Art cruise and got a photo opp with Karl Lagerfeld reports Fashionista) and designer Rebecca Minkoff might or might not have a great DJ set to offer to rave culture. We shall never know yet Who What Wear reported:

“You may know Rebecca Minkoff more for her beloved handbags than her music career, but that’s all about to change, as the NY-based designer will be making her debut performance as DJ BECKY at The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California.

The designer-turned-DJ said of her upcoming performance, “I’ve always loved music; it’s definitely a pillar of the brand. I’m so excited to share my new talent with the Coachella audience.” Minkoff aspires to turn her new venture into a viable side career, saying, “ I hope this is just the beginning of future collaborations with fellow Coachella artists like Porter Robinson, David Guetta, Kaskade, and of course Drake!”

Last but not least Jeremy Piven, the actor was never the CEO of Selfridges, even though he portrayed Selfridges founder Harry Gordon Selfridge on TV. Of course a fashion girl’s biggest lie (“I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR”) is a constant April Fool throughout.
