A very pretty woman for Riccardo Tisci

This Monday evening, Givenchy’s artistic director Riccardo Tisci posted some fashion breaking news on his personal Instagram account. Julia Roberts in her first black-and-white photo as the new face of Givenchy was captioned with “WELCOME DEAR JULIA” and the Oscar-winning actress looks like a pretty woman made of steel in in the French fashion house’s spring-summer 2015 advertising campaign.

“I decided to make her more intellectual, more serious, more pure,” the Italian designer, who next year will mark a decade at the creative helm of Givenchy, told Women’s Wear Daily. “She’s incredible as a woman. She’s funny, ironic, intelligent, cultured — everything. She really represents my woman. She’s got a really strong sense of fun and is very open. It’s a different, fresh, new way to see Julia — really cool and urban, I think” he added. The A-list star wears a menswear-inspired jacket and sheer shirt in the two images captured by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott for a campaign which sees Tisci’s 47-year-old “ICON” on top of her game.
