“People have been telling me over and over again how they would love to wear some of these dresses now, 100 years later,” said fashion museum’s curator Olivier Saillard. “Maybe that speaks to where fashion is heading, toward more simplicity and things that you hold on to forever—like we do with design.”
This week Paris celebrated the opening of the Jeanne Lanvin retrospective at the Palais Galliera in the most glamorous way possible. At the event Anne Ηidalgo, the mayor of Paris, sent a strong sipportive message to the fashion crowd by promising 60 million euros to support French fashion designers and artisans.
Inside the neo-Renaissance museum designer Alber Elbaz and co-host Nadja Swarovski welcomed a starry crowd. There the Missoni clan, Azzedine Alaïa, Rick Owens paid their respect to the history of the fashion house. “The thing about dreams is that sometimes you can’t attain them,” said Elbaz.
“Tonight, I think we actually surpassed the dream” he added during the after-party which took place in the first-floor salons of the Shangri-La Hotel. Carine Roitfeld, Jared Leto, Valentino designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli and many more congratulated Elbaz on his vision whilst the champagne kept flowing for the star-studded crowd.
